Devastating News on UPS Crash: Fatalities Climbs to 13

The number of victims due to the freight aircraft which burst into flames and crashed has now risen to 13, as confirmed by official reports.

City Leader's Remarks

While en route to the Teamsters’ vigil, I was informed of a 13th person that died as a outcome of the UPS flight 2976 accident,” expressed the city mayor in a online message. “My heart are with the relatives, companions and co-workers of all who were lost in this recent disaster. We will endure this as one.”

Casualties Named

A statement from the carrier named the flight crew on board the aircraft as Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our thoughts are extended to each employee who has been touched and everyone in our community region – helping you and making sure you obtain the attention and aid you need is our focus,” the firm’s statement stated.

Probe Updates

Government authorities revealed that the UPS cargo plane’s wing caught fire and an motor detached shortly after liftoff from the airfield, leading to the plane to crash and erupt into a inferno.

The National Transportation Safety Board has said it is investigating the jet’s maintenance history, which was in the state for repairs several weeks before the accident.

Aircraft records indicated the aircraft was on the runway in that location from the start of last month to 18 October.

“We are aware that this jet was located in that city,” stated an NTSB member on Thursday, not giving a precise time frame. “We will examine all elements of maintenance that was performed, from the repair visit, right up to the day of the journey.”

Retrieval of Key Evidence

The cockpit voice recorder and data recorder were found, and the motor was found on the runway.

The devices – known as flight recorders – were built to withstand accident forces and severe fire from blazes, and they seemed to be in one piece when located within the wreckage. Investigators plan on reviewing recordings from the recorders.

The plane’s final recorded information indicated an elevation of 475 feet and a velocity of that speed prior to the impact.

Repair History

Based on FAA documents from last month, a crack on a part in the fuel container demanded repairs.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which stated it supplies structural repairs for UPS’s aircraft and manages a service location in that city, declined to speak, but said it would work closely when investigators reached out it.

Services Restart

At the same time, the facility activities resumed last night with its overnight or evening process, official Jim Mayer said. The three landing strips at the airport were also back in operation.

The sorting center in the city is the firm’s largest. The center hires more than a large number of workers in the locality, handles 300 flights daily and sorts in excess of 400,000 parcels each hour.

Community Response

A gathering was conducted on the late afternoon of recently by the regional labor union, which acts for workers at the airfield, the company’s primary air cargo hub.

Worker representatives, which represents staff, began the gathering with a moment of silence at the evening hour, the estimated moment of the accident two days earlier.

“This tragedy was so abrupt, so unforeseen,” the official addressed the crowd of 200. “No one had a opportunity to part to each of those who we have said farewell to.”
